Black Friday Beauty 2026: A Guide to Prices and Hair Tools
Black Friday 2026 falls on Friday, November 27, the day after Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 26, and Cyber Monday follows on November 30. Many stores start their sales in the days before, and each store sets its own dates. This guide covers what to do before the day, how to tell whether a sale price is actually good, and which hair dryers, air stylers, flat irons and curling irons lead our device comparison on the manufacturers' specs. The dates and five quick questions for any price are also on our Black Friday 2026 page.
Before the day: list, budget, homework
The most useful Black Friday move happens weeks before: a list. Write down two things.
- What you'd buy again anyway. Your shampoo, the moisturizer you're halfway through, the mascara that's starting to dry out. A sale saves you the most on things you'd buy next month regardless.
- Gifts you've already planned. Who's getting what, and roughly how much you want to spend on each person.
Next to each item, note what it costs today and the date: your own reference for later.
Then set one budget for everything, before you open the first tab. If something catches your eye that isn't on the list, give it a day. If you still want it on Cyber Monday, it was more than an impulse.
If a new hair tool is on your list, look at it in our beauty tech comparison now, not on the day. Decide which numbers matter to you (weight, attachments, maximum temperature) and write down the exact model number. On Black Friday, one question is left: is the price right for that model?
How to check a Black Friday price
What did it cost in the weeks before?
A crossed-out list price is the store's own reference, not proof of a lower price. What tells you more is what the item cost in the weeks before the sale. If the Black Friday price matches what you noted in October, you're looking at a new label, not a lower price.
What does it cost per fluid ounce?
The price per fluid ounce shows whether the jumbo bottle or the set really costs less than the regular size. If the store doesn't show it, divide the price by the number of fluid ounces. Minis are worth a close look: travel sizes are handy, but they aren't automatically the cheaper way to buy a product.
Is it exactly this model?
With devices, the model number is what counts. Sets with a case or extra attachments sometimes carry a model number of their own. Compare model with model, and check what's in the box.
Is a big percentage a good price?
Not by itself. A percentage only says how far the price sits below the reference the store chose. And a big discount doesn't make a device better: compare the specs first, then the price.
Can you return it?
Sealed beauty products may be excluded from returns once opened. The store's return policy says what applies, so read it before you open anything, and keep gifts sealed until they're given.
Hair tools: the first places in our comparison
Our Spec Index ranks devices by manufacturer specifications only, with fixed weights per category; price and commission don't count. We haven't tried these devices ourselves, so every value is what the brand states. Here are the first three places in each category as of October 22, 2026, with scores out of 10. How the points come together is on our method page.
Hair dryers
Put wattage, weight and attachments side by side. Wattage is the power the dryer draws. Weight is the one you feel, because you hold a dryer up for the whole blow-dry. The attachments decide what else it can do, from a concentrator to a diffuser.
- Dyson Supersonic Nural (HD16): Spec Index 7.6, 1,600 W, 28.8 oz, 5 attachments.
- Shark SpeedStyle Pro (HD731): Spec Index 7.6, 1,750 W, 26.4 oz, 3 attachments.
- Laifen Swift Special: Spec Index 7.1, 1,400 W, 14.4 oz, 3 attachments.
The Dyson and the Shark share the same score: the Dyson has more attachments, the Shark more watts and slightly less weight. The Laifen weighs about half as much as either. Our comparison lists no model number for it, so match the full name and the box contents. All 9 models are in our hair dryer comparison.
Hot air brushes and air stylers
Compare attachments and heat settings, plus weight. Attachments decide how many styles one tool covers; heat settings give you room to adjust to your hair. Some brands count a cold setting among their settings, so count the same way for every device.
- T3 Aire 360 Ceramic Dual Voltage Air Styler (602192-UL-10): Spec Index 8.2, 4 attachments, 3 heat settings.
- Shark FlexStyle NextGen: IonCurl (HD840PU): Spec Index 7.4, 5 attachments, 24 oz, 4 heat settings.
- Dyson Airwrap i.d. Straight+Wavy (HS08): Spec Index 7.2, 6 attachments, 22.4 oz, 2 heat settings.
Of the three, the Dyson has the most attachments and the Shark the most heat settings. All 8 models are in our hot air brush comparison.
Flat irons
Compare the maximum temperature, the heat-up time and the plate width. Wider plates cover more hair in one pass; narrower plates get closer to the root and make bangs easier. A high maximum is room to work with, not a setting you have to use.
- Remington S9511 flat iron (1 inch, argan oil and keratin plates): Spec Index 7.0, 450 °F, heats up in 15 seconds.
- Dyson Corrale CoolShine (HT02): Spec Index 6.9, 410 °F, heats up in 15 seconds.
- T3 Lucea 1.5" (77530): Spec Index 6.3, 1.5 inch plates, 410 °F.
The Remington reaches the highest temperature of the three, and the T3's plates are half an inch wider than the Remington's. All 8 models are in our flat iron comparison.
Curling irons and wands
The barrel diameter decides the curl: the thinner the barrel, the tighter the curl. Pick the size by the look you want, then compare the maximum temperature and the heat-up time. If a curling iron comes in several barrel sizes under one name, check the size on the listing.
- Remington Gloss Curling Wand (CI9350US): Spec Index 7.2, 1 inch barrel, 430 °F, heats up in 30 seconds.
- CHI 1 Inch Tourmaline Ceramic Curling Iron (CA1030): Spec Index 6.5, 1 inch barrel, 410 °F, heats up in 30 seconds.
- Beachwaver Pro Series: Spec Index 6.3, 1 inch barrel, 450 °F, heats up in 30 seconds.
All three share a 1 inch barrel and a 30-second heat-up. Our comparison lists no model number for the Beachwaver, so check that the listing says 1 inch. All 8 models are in our curling iron comparison.
Gifts and the season
If a beauty advent calendar is on your gift list, sort it out early: the first door opens on December 1, so the calendar needs to arrive before then. Our overview of beauty advent calendars 2026 lists the calendars we found, with the number of doors each listing states. And if the gift is a hair tool, the model number check above keeps you from wrapping a different version than the one you meant to buy.
How we talk about prices on Glossumi
There's no price in this article, on purpose. We show Amazon prices only once we may read them through Amazon's own interface; until then, the store shows the current price. When you do see prices on Glossumi, these are our words:
- Sale, per the store: the store itself marks the product as on sale.
- Price low: the price is below the lowest we've recorded ourselves in the 30 days before. That's our own reading, not the store's claim.
- No crossed-out prices: we never copy a store's crossed-out price, because it's the store's own reference, not proof of a lower price.
How we read prices is explained on our price check method page.
List first, cart second
Write your list now, compare with the weeks before and check model against model, and Black Friday becomes a day you shop on purpose. The dates, the five questions and the first places in every category are on our Black Friday 2026 page.
